What a tragedy! The psychological assault on my psyche from learning about these stories within our flawed justice system is a burden. But one I will gladly bear until everyone obtains justice and fairness. Will it ever end? No time soon, no time soon.

Thank you for directing me to this article. I wish I was already subscribed to you when you wrote this, because it's so true.

In America, Lady Justice is not blind. She flips up the blindfold to look at the accused when their names sound like they belong to someone she thinks is too swarthy. Then, she lowers it again when leveling draconian punishment to give the appearance of impartiality. America has a legal system, not a justice system and people are not seen equally within it.

I do acknowledge the different treatment; however, one should not expect that a person with prior felony convictions would get treated the same as someone with no police record regardless of how much melanin is in their skin.
