I did not know I was part of such an exclusive club. I also think you have a lot of good ideas and write well, which is some of the reasons I support you.
As for paywall or not paywall. I think perks for your paying subscribers is fine. You can still provide the information for free but add some depth for paying patrons.
Some of the people I think have so far balanced that skillfully are Joyce Vance and Paul Krugman. I’m sure you have looked at what they offer already.
I am a broke-ass retired woman but I pay for some quality content and yours is an important piece of that small pie. I think you can charge for your analysis and commentary but share less effort-intensive content for free. Easily said, huh? Honestly, your Zen moments are worth the small subscript ion fee. Get what you need to keep going. And thank you.
A hard choice to think and decide on. I like what Henrick has said. I will try and restack which might help. I hope your list of paid subscribers will grow from the fairly large list you have. It is hard but we sure need to support more true and original thought from center to (yeah) left. Keep on keeping on.
Praise be the Al-gore-rhythm for placing this at the top of my feed.
Thanks for explaining something I was having a hard time understanding (paid sub tier via referrals).
Also, Marlin if you didn't know already you have a contagious laugh, which coupled with your realization about saying it’s a ‘free country’ had me laughing outloud with you. Thanks for that.
High frequency trading has a sketch waiting to be drawn-- that I should draw--but it's public image is something I'd like to address. If the flows resulting from the trades were directed to the post-corporate world (where we all would love to live) it'd be something I would do for me. But as a regular investor, I'd like to know what *you* could do. I would pay 2 cents to see high frequency isn’t a sin. That’s what it is to me. I’d like to be painting and not thinking about trades that make trillions from a 2 cent profit on a security you see I want and you buy and then sell back to me. What’s this about frequency and not about money?
Hi Mr. Weems, I enjoy reading about your trading background and your daughter’s art. I know others have incorporated a buy me a coffee feature.
The problem is Substack. The ways to pay creators are not flexible enough for the environment they want to build.
The other issue is too much quality. There are so many good writers here trying to make it work. I don’t have time to read everyone because the content is so broad.
Lastly, I hope I don’t sound unkind. I am donating every paycheck to Ukraine’s U24 initiative.

Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Henrik. I really appreciate your support!
A poor champion here sharing your work for bigger champions. Thank you I'm honored to read your work & share.
Same here

My zen moments fall into the “laugh to keep from crying category.” 😊

I like the cut of your jib, subscribed!
That “free” kinda got stuck in my throat!
