The biggest problem I see in the US is that the right wing leaning media is pretty much free. You said it yourself, Breitbart, Fox News. All widely available and free to consume.
The left wing leaning stuff is all stuck behind paywalls.
So if someone is politics curious, they are more likely to end up consuming and entering into the right wing sphere.
The left needs to make their information more accessible not stuck behind paywalls. 🤦🏽♀️
I hope to become a paid subscriber soon but…bills. I really enjoy your perspective and experience. Whether the arts or other avenues, I try to direct my discretionary funds to small creators, where they have a much bigger impact.
What I would like to do is pay a flat sum of, say, $100-150 a year and have it distributed proportionally to all of the authors for whom I do not have a paid subscription. That way each of these great authors, photographers, cartoonists, etc would get my support without my having to subscribe to the 30+ stacks I follow and really appreciate. You can‘t tell me that Substack does not have the statistics on what each of us are clicking on and reading.
Thanks for keeping it free so far but as I‘ve been pondering for the past week already, I will become a paid subscriber and please keep up those lovely moments of zen and videos of Joshua Doss!
