It was an unnecessary and unnecessarily cruel decision. GHW Bush may not have been the worst president, but his vision was skewed in ways we may not ignore. Treasury Sec’y Brady, faced with the S&L debacle, used the cascading failures of those institutions to ignore his social duty. WASP to the core, they just did not care to do what was right, what was proper, what was decent. I’m glad I don’t know what language they used when they reviewed the situation, but I suspect I have a pretty good idea.
Yet with all we have to deal with in the present admin, it makes those seem like golden times.
